South Woman Killed in Ohio Car Crash
A woman from South Charleston was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Ohio Tuesday.
According to a statement released by officials with the Springfield Regional Medical Center, 48 year-old Debra S. Wilson, of South Charleston, was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash on U.S. 40 at Houston Pike in Clark County, Ohio. The crash occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m. Tuesday, police say.
According to officials at the Springfield Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Wilson was traveling south on Houston Pike when she failed to stop at a stop sign and drove into the path of a westbound truck driven by 76 year-old Allen Reese, of Cedarville. Reese’s truck collided with the left side of Wilson’s car. The force of the impact sent Wilson’s vehicle off the north edge of U.S. 40.
Wilson was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, authorities say.
Harmoney Township emergency personnel responded to the scene.
Reese was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center, following the accident, where he was treated and released. Reese voluntarily consented to a urine sample at the hospital; results are pending.
The accident remains under investigation.
