Scaffold falls on city bus

Last week, a construction site scaffold fell on passersby and a city bus with passengers inside. Eighteen people were injured in the accident. Construction workers in Harlem were on the scaffold when they say bricks began to fall out of the soon-to-be-demolished building.

The scaffold fell five stories onto the bus. Of the eighteen injured, eight were in the bus and the rest were construction workers or people walking by on the sidewalk. Several people were trapped under the rubble and were later rescued by firefighters. OSHA and New York's Department of Buildings will conduct an investigation into the accident. When the site was inspected in September, it had all the valid permits and no violations were found.
