Pedestrians More Cautious after Major Car Collision in Charlotte

Seven people, five of whom are Myers Park High School students, were seriously injured in a 3-vehicle collision along Woodland Road and Halstead Drive at around 7 a.m. on January 8.

The collision, which occurred near a bus stop where many children get on and off before and after school, was a wake up call for pedestrians, including many parents.

A parent, Joyce Froelich, who was walking her daughter to the bus stop, said she heard a loud crashing noise and saw a black SUV roll over just a few yards from where they were. Her daughter was visibly shaken from the incident afterwards, and Froelich and her husband have stated that they’d rather drive their daughter to school than go to the bus stop in the future.

Police immediately rerouted traffic along the area and mentioned that the accident could’ve happened after one of the vehicles changed lanes and crossed the center line of Woodland Road.

When drivers act recklessly, they may injure many others, including innocent pedestrians.
