Man admits to South Carolina hit-and-run, gets five years

A man who admitted to causing injuries to four children by hitting them with the vehicle he was driving and then abandoning the scene of the accident in Summerville, South Carolina, was sentenced to a five-year term of imprisonment, slightly lower than the 10-year maximum he was eligible for, on Thursday, March 14.

According to the police, the defendant, Philip Andrew Wucherer, was driving his mother’s car when his vehicle collided with the children, who snuck out of their house to get WiFi access for their phones, on Paddock Way in a Sangaree subdivision late on the night of Aug. 25.

Wucherer, who was charged with three counts of leaving the scene of a collision involving significant bodily injury and one count of leaving the scene of a collision involving personal injury, had already served 199 days of jail time. His lawyer said the five-year sentence was a “fair resolution”.

When a person injures others as a result of dangerous driving, they may be held accountable for the costs of their recklessness. The attorneys of the Steinberg Law Firm are prepared to provide the representation injury victims deserve.
