Steinberg Law Firm Supports Lowcountry Firefighter and EMS Support Team With PTSD Blankets

Steinberg Law Firm Supports Local PTSD Fundraising Efforts

The Steinberg Law Firm has always fought for the legal rights of Charleston area citizens in and out of the courtroom. The staff in the Charleston, Goose Creek, and Summerville offices have collaborated to push forward a multitude of fundraising initiatives that provide support and resources to those in need.

We were ecstatic to seize the opportunity to provide the main sponsorship to the 5th Annual Lowcountry Support Team (LFST) Golf Tournament. The golf tournament acts as an awareness, support, and critical outreach event for the Lowcountry Firefighting and EMS support team which is dedicated to offering emergency service personnel with counseling and health resources.

Operation Zzz” blanket – The Weight of Restful Sleep

May 11th, 2018 Michael Jordan of the Steinberg Law Firm the golf tournament where he was able to speak with individuals that have benefited from LFST resources, generate new friendships and partnerships for the program and showcase some the LFST weighted blankets. The weighted blankets are used to soothe and calm individuals suffering from unrestful sleep due to Posttraumatic Stress Disorder or high anxiety, by creating a safe environment for them to get some quality sleep.

Operation Zzz’ Blanket and the LFST organization are determined to provide the mental and physical resources, like peer counseling and these weighted blankets, to families in the emergency medical industry, even if they cannot afford the cost themselves.

The Steinberg Law Firm feels incredibly passionate about giving EMS workers and their families access the tools they need to heal and rest as they provide endless duties to citizens during medical emergencies. As one of the main fundraising events of the year, the Steinberg Law Firm was thrilled to be a part of the community gathering and help their local emergency service employees. The Steinberg Law Firm also works to provide EMS workers with probono wills to ensure they have the proper documentation to protect their families while they work in a high stress, dangerous industry. Continued Collaboration

The Lowcountry Firefighter and EMS Support Team was a recipient of the 2017 Steinberg Community Fund program, where our firm was able to financially support the production of the PSTD weighted blanket materials and labor. This spring’s 5th annual golf tournament will be the second year Attorney Michael Jordan has collaborated to promote and aid in this fundraising effort.

How Can I Join The Movement?

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder can disrupt the daily life in many different ways, and getting a lower-stress sleeping routine can help those working through PTSD symptoms get one more tool to help them take control over their symptoms. The Lowcountry Firefighter and EMS Support Team have already distributed dozens of the weighted, anti-anxiety blankets to the local EMS workers, but this is just the start of their journey.

In conjunction with Operation Zzzz’ Blanket, the LFST has created the Sponsor A Blanket Program, where any individual or business can directly sponsor the materials and production of a weighted blanket for a local EMS employee dealing with PTSD.  If you would like to directly fund the creation of one of these life-changing blankets, go here.
