Husk restaurant sued for wrongful death
Husk, the renowned Charleston eatery named the Best New Restaurant by Bon Appetit Magazine, is facing a wrongful death lawsuit after an assistant manager, who was drinking at the restaurant, caused a fatal car accident.
In the early morning hours of December 17, the manager was on the Ravenel Bridge when he rear-ended a 32 year-old bartender. The bartender was trapped in his car when it burst into flames. Now the victim’s family is seeking undisclosed damages from Husk.
His family claims the restaurant was negligent for allowing an employee to get drunk on the premises and then letting him drive. The manager had a blood alcohol level of 0.24 at the time of the accident. He currently faces a felony charge of driving under the influence.
