How to Have Summer Fun Amid the Coronavirus Pandemic
Coronavirus has impacted the world in so many ways, and now that we’re approaching peak vacation season, many people are looking for alternative vacation ideas. Instead of taking a trip to the beach, many families are staying home in an effort to reduce their possible exposure to COVID-19. While staying home this summer may not be the vacation the family desired, you can still have fun while staying safe. Here are a couple of ideas on how to enjoy your summer at home!
DIY Projects
Taking on summer projects can be a great idea for the summer. Whether a home decoration project, a yard beautification idea, or any other project can be a great way to keep busy. Taking the time to improve your home is important, especially now that you will be spending more time there. Completing those repairs that have been on the “To-Do” list, or finishing that project you’ve been waiting to work on are great ways to spend time being productive at home.
The Great Outdoors
Another great idea for the summer is to find your closest national or state park and spend socially distanced time in nature! Hiking, fishing, camping are great ways to explore U.S. national parks. You can check out a list of all the national parks near you with this link! If a national park is too far away, local parks are also a great idea. Spending time outdoors can be a great way to relieve stress and clear your mind, while also getting some physical exercise. Make sure that you respect others in the park by adhering to social distancing standards and staying away from crowded places.
Socially Distant Environments
If you feel comfortable interacting with others, a great way to do that this summer would be to host a “socially distant” meetup. Providing your guests with designated spaced seating and minimizing areas where multiple hands need to touch is the best way to ensure that you are providing a safe place while enjoying the company of your friends or family. Marking designated disposable cups for each of your guests and providing plenty of sanitizing materials is also a great way to encourage safe practices amongst your guests. Be sure to let your guests know that your event has everyone’s safety in mind and you are trying to create a safe and social environment.
These suggestions are only some of the ways you can stay active this summer. Making the most of the summer amidst COVID-19 is important and will help keep positive spirits until the cases of the virus reduce and we can return to pre-coronavirus norms.
