Charleston Personal Injury Attorney Malcolm Crosland Achieves $225K Verdict for Injured Longshoreman
The Steinberg Law Firm is excited to announce that Charleston personal injury attorney Malcolm Crosland has successfully secured a $225,000.00 verdict for client Perry Dixon, a longshoreman who suffered severe hand and neck injuries while working at the port of Charleston.
Dixon claimed the South Carolina Ports Authority crane operator violated safety rules while loading shipping containers onto a vessel. When the crane operator moved the shipping container before being told it was safe to do so, Mr. Dixon’s right (dominant) hand was crushed between two containers, causing him to fall and injure his neck. Dixon required three surgeries to repair his right hand, and a fusion surgery for his neck injury.
Crosland and co-counsel Peter Wilborn of Derfner, Altman, and Wilborn presented evidence on behalf of their client and, after three days of testimony, the jury returned a verdict for Mr. Dixon in the amount of $225,000.00. A great achievement for Mr. Crosland, Mr. Wilborn, Mr. Dixon, and the Steinberg Law Firm!
Mr. Dixon’s case reminds us all of the importance of following proper safety procedures to ensure the safety of others, and the unfortunate consequences of failing to do so.
