$7.5 million awarded in slip and fall lawsuit
A southern California man was awarded $7.5 million last week in his slip and fall lawsuit against Starbucks Coffee Co.
In 2008, the man was in a local Starbucks when he slipped on the wet floor the manager was mopping. Complications he has suffered from hitting his head has prohibited him from returning to work as a chiropractor since the fall.
A San Diego Superior Court jury found Starbucks Coffee Co. negligent in maintaining its property. $1 million of the verdict was awarded to the victim's wife for loss of consortium and the remaining $6.5 million is to compensate the man for medical expenses, lost income, and loss of enjoyment of life.
