1 Killed, 2 Injured in Crash with Sheriffs Deputy
Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol continue to examine the cause of a crash involving a sheriff’s deputy, which left one man dead and two others injured.
According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol’s real-time traffic information, the fatal accident occurred shortly before 5:50 p.m. on Highway 21 in Beaufort County. Authorities say the driver of a Chrysler was attempting a U-turn when he crashed into a K-9 deputy squad car.
The impact of the collision ejected the driver and a female passenger from the vehicle. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and a male passenger were transported to Beaufort Memorial Hospital. Their conditions are not known.
The deputy was also taken to BMH with minor injuries.
