Summerville Attorney Steven Goldberg Selected to Chair the Grantmaking and Community Leadership Committee at Coastal Community Foundation
The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina has selected Steinberg Law Firm Attorney Steven Goldberg to Chair the Grantmaking and Community Leadership Committee. He was appointed to the governing board in 2014 to help manage assets, provide assistance with grants and consult in the Foundation’s decision-making process.
The Foundation helps individuals, families and organizations facilitate long-term, impactful charitable giving. As a steward of more than $220 million, the nonprofit fosters philanthropy for the lasting good of the community by assisting donors in directing funds to charities of their choice.
The Grantmaking and Community Leadership Committee maximizes the impact of those donations by ensuring those charities are viable organizations and monitoring how donation money is spent with the goal of safeguarding each donor’s wishes.
With approximately 10,000 charitable organizations in South Carolina alone, donors have an overwhelming number of options when selecting the right charity to reflect their cause. The Foundation maximizes the impact of a donor’s contribution by identifying the community’s biggest needs through a surveying process.
As the new committee chair, Mr. Goldberg oversees the process and then matches those needs with the donor’s intentions of giving back to the community.
“Serving on this committee has opened my eyes to not only all the generous donors in our community, but also all the wonderful charities trying to make a difference,” said Goldberg. “I am seeing the charities we select make a huge difference in the community – right before my eyes – from donor contributions, one grant at a time.”
We are excited and inspired by Mr. Goldberg’s continuous involvement in the community with multiple organizations and congratulate him on his achievement.
