Brad Pitt’s NGO may sue manufacturer for product liability due to rotting wood
The non-profit organization Make It Right Foundation, which is the brainchild of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt , is considering taking legal action against a South Carolina-based manufacturer of glass-infused wood used in construction in some of its donated homes’ outdoor steps and front porches. According to spokeswoman Taylor Royle, despite the fact that the manufacturers promised a 40 –year guarantee period for the wood, it has begun rotting its first few months of usage and was “unable to withstand moisture, which obviously is a big problem in New Orleans.”
As evidence of the premature rotting of the TimberSIL wood, a Make It Right-built home owner, Robert Green, who moved into the house in the 1800 block of Tennessee Street in 2009, said his second-floor wood deck had started to rot.
