Steinberg Law Firm attorney Michael Jordan to represent 27 plaintiffs in overtime case

Steinberg Law Firm‘s attorney Michael Jordan is representing 27 individual claimants who worked in Charleston County’s EMS Department who are suing the county for unpaid overtime wages. The complaint was filed on Thursday, January 23.

According to the complaint, the EMS workers were not paid the proper overtime wages they claim they were legally entitled to under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) for working more than 40 hours per week. The claimants are asking for “unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, and other relief under the FLSA of 1938.”

All plaintiffs are filing both individual claims and an “opt-in, collective action,” meaning that any worker in the county’s EMS Department that is not considered exempt and was not paid overtime wages for any hours worked over 40 in one week at any point in the three previous years can also join the claim and seek damages from Charleston County.
