Whirlpool Corp Recalls 1.7 Milion Maytag Dishwashers
The Whirlpool Corp along with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission have recalled 1.7 million dishwashers from the Maytag unit due to a potential fire hazard from the heating elements.
A failure in the heating elements has caused 12 fires, according to reports. The fires have resulted in extensive dishwasher damage and in one case, fire damage to the whole kitchen. The products were sold from February 2006 until April 2010 for $200 to $900. Other brands that are involved in the recall are Crosley, Jenn-Air and Amana.
