South Carolina Man Killed in Tabor City Car Crash
A South Carolina teen was killed in a single-car crash in Tabor City Monday night.
According to officials with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, 19 year-old Kuamane Charles McCord, of 314 West 2nd Street, died in a single car crash on Old Stake Road shortly after 11:30 p.m. Monday. K.K. Conner, a trooper with the North Carolina Highway Patrol, said McCord was a passenger in a 2004 Nissan driven by 19 year-old Daniel Patrick Young. McCord was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled through a yard and into a field.
Young was transported by ambulance to Loris Community Hospital in South Carolina. He was later transferred to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, where he was treated and released, Conner said. Authorities could not comment on the nature or extent of Young’s injuries.
Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident. It is not known whether drugs or alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash.
